go to home page • go to renewal page Demonstration of the Washington State license tab/tag renewal process. We have created this page to show you the steps of the license tab and tag renewal process on the State of Washington DOL site. Thank you for using Ballard Licensing. We truly appreciate your business. First you will be linked from this site to our "segway" page letting you know you are being directed to the State of Washington department of licensing website. It includes a friendly reminder to please use Ballard Licensing. We'd really appreciate it if you would take "The Quickest Survey Ever" so that we can learn how to better serve you. The segway page opens in a new window or tab. See the screen shot below…
Step 1: You will be linked from our "segway" page to the State of Washington department of licensing website. Click "start renewal" to begin your tab renewal. Step 2: Enter your vehicle information and the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) or your last name. Step 3: Your vehicle information, current expiration date and fee estimate will show. If you need new license plates, the site will tell you. Step 4: Verify your address. If your address has NOT changed since the last time you renewed your tabs, click "Yes, my address is up to date." If your address HAS changed since the last time you renewed your tabs, click "No, I need to update my address before I renew my tabs." PLEASE NOTE: If you click "No, I need to update my address before I renew my tabs.", you will have to start the renewal process over from the beginning. We strongly urge you to update your address BEFORE renewing your tabs. Click here to update your address with the State of Washington in a new window/tab. When you are finished, you may close that window/tab to return to this page. Step 5: Enter the registered owner's unexpired Washington State driver's license number. Step 6: If you are required to have new license plates, you will be given the option to be given the next number for no extra charge or keep your existing number for an additional $20 fee. Step 7: For delivery of your tabs as soon as the next business day choose King County from the Washington map and then scroll down to Ballard Licensing in step 8. Ballard Licensing can renew tabs for any address in the State of Washington. Since we are in King County choose "King County" from the map so that you can select "Ballard Licensing" in step 8. Step 8: Scroll down the page until you see "Ballard Licensing" and click on our name. You may click these buttons to start your renewal or see the rest of the steps below.
Step 9: For delivery as soon as one business day, click "Mail them to me." Of course you may come into our office to pick them if you will be in Ballard. We'd be happy to see you! Step 10: This page shows your preference for how to get your tabs in addition to your fee and vehicle information Step 11: This page is where you enter your payment information. Step 12: This is your final step. This screen shows your vehicle and payment information. You may print it for your records. There is no "exit" so we suggest you close your browser window after you print. We hope that you have found this demonstration of the State of Washington's tab renewal process to be helpful.
